Courier Service for Large Items

Throughout our working week, we receive many phone calls from people asking if we can provide them with a courier service for large items. This is mainly due to the fact that big, overnight national courier services such as DPD or FedEx can’t accommodate their consignment due to its size.

Long parcels and large packages which are deemed too big to be transported by these bigger courier companies are known as ‘Ugly Freight’.

For us, these large items aren’t a problem, and we’re on hand to provide a dedicated vehicle courier service for all these bigger, bulky, and difficult-to-handle loads, offering a very cost-effective way of transporting large items to or from anywhere in the mainland UK.

We regularly carry out the delivery of large items such as 4m long parcels such as rolls of artificial grass and building materials in our XLWB Sprinter-type vans.

Heavy engineering machinery often needs a vehicle called a Luton van with a tail lift that is used to raise the consignment up the vehicle’s loading space and is then wheeled on using a pump truck or manoeuvred by hand, if possible.

We also move goods that are extremely big and heavy, such as ship parts and pallets carrying sheets of metal that are 6-7m long which require even bigger trucks and lorries like 7 ½ tonne & 18-tonne vehicles and even 13.6m long artics.

Certain items which are also fragile, as well as large need careful handling, we specialise in the delivery of goods such as these too.

If your large item is unpackaged, we’ll make sure that it’s wrapped in protective removal blankets, and if necessary, your consignment will be held in place using ratchet straps or rope to ensure that they can’t move throughout the journey, reducing the risk of any damage occurring.
